"The Worst Hooves anyone has ever seen..." | ||
| "Dulce" is a recent rescue arrival at the Shelter. This mare had feet like no one at the Shelter had ever seen (picture at left). Her two front hooves extended nearly 12" and curled up on the ends. The Shelter farrier had to anesthetize her and give her an initial trim with a hacksaw! Dulce will likely require at least a year of rehabilitation, and it is unclear if she will ever be able to walk normally again due to the severe strain on her legs that she had apparently endured for years. |
