Welcome to the Horse ShelterWe are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected horses within the State of New Mexico. Our home is near the town of Cerrillos, south of Santa Fe, where we have a 'round-the-clock barn manager and facilities for about fifty horses. The Horse Shelter depends on the kindness of individual donors whose financial support comprises the majority of our funding. We rely heavily on a dedicated group of volunteers who assist in caring for our horses. |
 Miracle finds new home at the Horse ShelterMiracle, the elderly mare that survived several gunshot wounds to the head is now recovering at the Shelter. The Work of the Horse Shelter First and foremost, we are dedicated to providing a safe, healthy environment for rescued horses. We follow up on each and every report we receive of horse abuse or neglect. In addition, we desseminate information on proper horse care for horse owners and make every attempt to assist individuals in the care of their horses.
