We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected horses within the State of New Mexico.
The Horse Shelter depends on the kindness of individual donors whose financial support comprises the majority of our funding. We rely heavily on a dedicated group of volunteers who assist in caring for our horses.
OUR MISSION
First and foremost, we are dedicated to providing a safe, healthy environment for rescued horses.
We follow up on each and every report we receive of horse abuse or neglect. We disseminate information on proper horse care for horse owners and make every attempt to assist individuals in the care of their horses.
The Horse Shelter's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and facilitate the adoption of abused, abandoned and neglected horses in New Mexico.

Horses are central to New Mexico life; it's impossible to imagine our beautiful state without them. From wild mustang herds to carefully bred and trained performance horses there is nothing more symbolic of the spirit and beauty of New Mexico.
Sadly, that doesn't mean these horses are always treated well.
